Weyland Ventures, in partnership with the Common Bond Hotel Collection, announced the opening of the 65 room Myriad Hotel in Louisville's Highlands district. The Myriad Hotel offers two restaurant and bar concepts, Paseo and Switchboard, a signature retail concept and event space, Bar Keep, pool and lounge, and indoor and outdoor event space.
"The Myriad Hotel embodies what makes Louisville, and specifically the Highlands neighborhood, so special," states Craig Pishotti, COO of Weyland Ventures and Co-Founder of Common Bond Hotel Collection. "We wanted to create a space for both visitors and locals to escape to, a getaway to relax and unwind, where they can expect the unexpected. But it's not just about providing a memorable experience for our guests; we are proud to support the local community and contribute to its growth."
Nestled amongst the quirky architecture and artisan shops in Louisville, upon entering, guests will notice that Myriad's design elements are inspired by the unique history of the site, a factory that once was responsible for creating the majority of the world's supply of disco balls. The free-spirited essence of the 70's era reverberates through the lobby, which features warm wood wallcoverings that evoke a funky retro feel, an installation of disco balls that hang from the ceiling, and the elevator which transforms into a disco ball, complete with a "party button" which triggers music and dancing lights.
Designed from the ground up to create a truly unique and independent experience, the Myriad's contemporary and cozy accommodations provide a warm welcome after a busy day exploring the city. The Myriad Hotel offers 65 modern guest rooms and suites, including 15 different room styles and two bunk rooms. Featured layouts include the King Room with Balcony in which a fully furnished lanai overlooks the pool, and the Corner Suite, which consists of a king bed and separate living room with a sectional sleeper and dining table, the ideal comfort level and size for couples, families, individuals, and business travelers alike. All rooms are equipped with workstations and premium bath amenities.
"Louisville is a city full of strength, pride, and charm, and the introduction of the Myriad brings a new perspective that is different from any other concept," said Draek Shepard, General Manager of The Myriad Hotel. "Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences with unexpected touches that will surprise and delight guests. We are excited to welcome both locals and visitors to experience The Myriad Hotel."
Switchboard, a vibrant café and cocktail experience that is a natural extension of the Myriad with convenient access for grab-and-go coffee and pastries and space to work remotely in a cozy atmosphere or enjoy a pre-dinner apéritif. Lunch and light bites include Caperberry & Quinoa Grain Salad, Smoked Fish Rillette - Crème Fraiche, and Sherry Gigante Beans with Garlic Confit. As the sun sets, the café undergoes a transformation into a sexy and modern cocktail bar where guests are transported to an era of secrecy and indulgence. With a dark and alluring atmosphere reminiscent of a New York speakeasy, this hidden gem offers a unique fusion of old-world charm and contemporary elegance that promises an experience that is both enchanting and unforgettable. Beginning today, Switchboard will open Tuesday – Thursday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for coffee and pastries. Light bites will follow starting on September 20, 2023, at noon. Evening hours will begin on September 21, 2023, Tuesday – Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for cocktails, wine, and light bites. Switchboard will close on Sunday and Monday.
The Myriad Swim Club is a sanctuary from the urban hustle in the heart of Louisville. The spacious pool provides guests and visitors a cool respite from the day's exploration. Poolside day beds and chaise lounges are available for reservation, with light bites and hand-crafted cocktails provided by the pool bar. Day passes are available for non-hotel guests. In the evening, the pool patio transitions into a lively lounge where guests can drink and dine under the iconic swim club tower, a vestige left from the disco ball factory.
The Myriad Hotel features three creatively appointed spaces with elevated catering from Paseo, perfect for social celebrations and corporate gatherings of up to 30 people. Bar Keep, a private lounge and dining area that will evolve into a luxury retail experience featuring a curated selection of hand-crafted, rare, and unique quality bar goods. The Myriad Swim Club is located under the iconic tower and features a mix of high and low-top seating. And the Myriad Swim Club Firepit, adjacent to the pool, with seating up to 12 people.
Weyland Ventures and Common Bond Hotel Collection partnered with WorK Architecture to recreate the space from the ground up with respect to its storied past. Common Bond Hotel Collection, a subsidiary of Weyland Ventures, has assembled a team of creatives led by Ashlyn Ackerman, Head of Design for Weyland Ventures, to develop unique identities for each property based on its location, community, and history. The team draws inspiration from years of travel and exploration and for the Myriad, many of them live locally in the highlands, bringing a unique perspective and hometown pride to the project. For the hotel's design, the Common Bond Hotel Collection worked closely with WorK Architecture to bring to life the authenticity of Louisville and the Highlands by designing the interior with nods to the building's history and local craftsmanship of old and new. This includes locally sourced artwork from JD Dotson, and Cletus Wilcox found in the lobby, guest rooms, and corridors.
