Radisson Hotel Group plans to strengthen its presence in Africa. The Group has ambitious plans to reach 150 hotels and 25,000 rooms within the next five years across the continent, making Africa a key region for growth.
Just four words are needed to sum up the main findings of this years African hotel chain development pipeline survey conducted by W Hospitality Group, in association with the Africa Hospitality Investment Forum (AHIF); those words are Egypt, Morocco, Accor and Marriott.
Radisson Hotel Group announced five new hotel signings across the continent to date this year, adding almost 600 rooms to its African portfolio. In 2022, the Group aims to add more than a dozen hotels, reaching just over 100 hotels in operation and under development on the continent.
Whilst the Covid-19 crisis is currently hitting operational hotels hard, the situation for hotel projects under development on the African Continent has not been addressed. It should be expected that dossiers for hotel projects will need to be more robust than ever before when being presented to investors and banks.
According to Derycycke, the market is very active with global and regional brands 'targeting hotel openings in the majority of the regions major cities'
The agreement will see IHG expand its presence in Sub-Saharan Africa, including key countries such as South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Zambia and Kenya.
