Hilton Worldwide (NYSE: HLT) yesterday announced the signing of a franchise license agreement with Free Way Group to build Hampton by Hilton Bariloche, marking the entry of the global mid-priced brand into Argentina. Scheduled to open early Q2 2018, the new property will be located in Argentina’s renowned international tourist destination of San Carlos de Bariloche. The project is part of an expansion plan of Free Way Group, which turns its expertise of 50 years in the tourism business in the region, including travel agencies and tour operators, now to the development of an international branded hotel.
Eduardo Rodriguez Suarez, Dado Carey, Gustavo Santos and Lisandro Cristia attend the Hampton by Hilton Bariloche signing ceremony.
“Hilton Worldwide continues to experience a period of rapid growth both domestically and internationally, and we’re excited to introduce the Hampton by Hilton brand in Argentina,” said Eduardo Rodriguez Suarez, managing director development, Brazil and the Southern Cone Region, Hilton Worldwide. “The province of Rio Negro is a key hub for Argentinian tourism, making it an ideal market for Hampton by Hilton’s first property in the country. The city of Bariloche, in particular, is among the most important destinations in the country, receiving more than 700,000 local and international tourists each year, according to the National Institute of Statistics.”
The 105-room, five-story hotel will be located in a new-build, mixed-use development with retail, parking space, and a plaza that will be donated to the city of San Carlos de Bariloche. Hampton by Hilton Bariloche will feature meeting space, a fitness center and a stylish Perfect Mix Lobby, and the rooms will have all of Hampton’s reliable amenities such as free Wi-Fi, a clean and fresh Hampton Bed®, coffeemaker and flat-screen TV, along with the friendly service and a 100% Hampton® Guarantee. Additional amenities include a complimentary hot breakfast, a 24-hour snack area and a bar area with evening dining options to help guests connect after meetings.
As the third most visited city in Argentina, Bariloche’s unique destination offerings draw travelers year-round with stunning and diverse scenery in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Guests will enjoy world-renowned skiing on the Andes to the west, rugged plains of the Patagonia Steppe to the east and an array of outdoor adventures set along the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake in front, with plenty to offer for both winter and warm-weather travel. The new Hampton by Hilton Bariloche will be strategically located just 5 minutes from the Centro Civico, and many rooms will have views to Nahuel Huapi Lake.
“We are thrilled to introduce the Hampton by Hilton brand to Bariloche,” said Lisandro Cristia, director of Argenway, the Destination Management Company of Free Way Group. “Our new-build hotel will offer a fantastic guest experience through Hampton by Hilton’s quality-driven and value-conscious amenities and services.”
Hampton by Hilton Bariloche will join Hilton Garden Inn Tucuman, Hilton Buenos Aires and Anselmo Buenos Aires, Curio Collection by Hilton as Hilton Worldwide’s fourth property in Argentina. It will be located in downtown Bariloche at 277 San Martin St. at the corner of San Martin and Libertad Streets.
As part of the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, Hampton by Hilton Bariloche will participate in Hilton HHonors®, the award-winning guest-loyalty program for Hilton Worldwide’s 13 distinct hotel brands. Hilton HHonors Members always get an exclusive member rate, along with HHonors Points, free standard Wi-Fi, digital check-in and no booking fees only when they book directly through Hilton.
Hampton by Hilton is rapidly expanding its portfolio in Latin America this year—in addition to the Bariloche signing, the brand is opening properties in Bucaramanga and Medellin, Colombia, and breaking ground in Antogasta, Chile. In Argentina, there are two hotels in construction: The Hilton Garden Inn Neuquen is scheduled to open in 2Q 2018 and the Hilton Pilar is scheduled to open 4Q 2017.
