The DoubleTree by Hilton Hartford and The Revel Apartments, a premier mixed-use development, today celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Ned Lamont, Governor of Connecticut; Arunan Arulampalam, Mayor of Hartford; and William Fortier, Senior Vice President – Development, Americas, Hilton.
"We are proud to unveil the DoubleTree by Hilton Hartford and Revel Apartments to the community. It offers exceptional accommodations and a vibrant community hub near the XL Center, UConn, and more," said Len Wolman, Chairman of Waterford Group. "The dedication of partners like the State, City, CRDA, Hilton, and many others was essential to this project's success. This collaborative effort saved the building from closure and reinvested significantly in Connecticut’s and Hartford’s revitalization,” Wolman added.
The former Hilton hotel in Hartford was transformed into a hybrid hotel and apartment complex. The transformation saved the landmark property and injected new life into the city's downtown core. Hotel ownership knew the building held potential beyond traditional hospitality, and they envisioned a new chapter that would cater to the city's evolving needs. The $29 million redevelopment converted the upper 11 floors of the hotel into 147 modern apartments in partnership with RMS Companies. The lower floors were fully renovated and converted to the 170-key DoubleTree by Hilton.
“We are thrilled to unveil the DoubleTree by Hilton Hartford Downtown, offering both convenience and comfort in the heart of Connecticut’s capital city,” said Chris Nassetta, president and CEO, Hilton. “Whether guests are here for business, leisure, or to explore the city’s rich history and culture, our warm welcome and thoughtful amenities will be a cherished destination for travelers and locals alike, providing unforgettable experiences infused with our signature hospitality.”
Designed to address the city's growing demand for urban living, the hybrid model delivers a win-win for Hartford. This April, The Revel, a collection of sleek, modern apartments with panoramic city views, will welcome its first residents, offering a vibrant new living option in the heart of the city.
“We are excited to have been a part of this development which serves as a model partnership involving the State of CT, City of Hartford, Capital Region Development Authority, and the private sector to transform a dated building into a vibrant mixed-use property in the center of downtown Hartford. Looking ahead, I could not be more optimistic about Hartford’s future,” said Randy Salvatore, president and CEO of RMS Companies.
