Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel is now accepting group booking requests for 2026 and beyond, and has tapped industry veteran Aaron Weegar as Director of Sales & Marketing. Set to open its doors in late 2025, the new 29-story hotel development, located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, will be connected directly to the Broward County Convention Center, which is currently undergoing a major expansion and renovation, and will be one of the premier convention venues in the country.
The property will offer 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel will also have over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms and pre-function meeting space with waterfront views.
"Omni is thrilled to be back in South Florida and to have Aaron on board to launch this incredible hotel and lead our pre-opening team," said Dan Surette, Chief Sales Officer for Omni Hotels & Resorts. "He's an industry veteran with a tremendous amount of experience within the Florida meetings and conventions arena."
Weegar has over 20 years of hospitality experience and has served notable roles at Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort and Spa, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in Lake Buena Vista, The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood Beach and the Caribe Royal All-Suites Hotel and Convention Center in Orlando.
"Having held several leadership positions in hospitality across the state, it is an honor to be at the forefront of major change in Fort Lauderdale and introduce a unique and modern experience to the South Florida meetings and conventions market," said Aaron Weegar, Director of Sales & Marketing for Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel. "The county's $1.3 billion investment in both the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel and expansion of the Broward County Convention Center will enhance the appeal of this great destination on a global scale. We look forward to the opportunity to greet guests from all over with a taste of local flavor."
The Broward County Convention Center expansion will include an additional 525,000+ square feet for a total of 1,200,000 square feet of overall meeting space. There will also be significant upgrades, including advanced conference technology offerings, that will add value to the hotel's efforts for attracting clients and overall business with the convention center.
