Accor adds to its portfolio in Italy with the signing of a new franchising agreement with PPN HOSPITALITY, which will see the Grand Hotel della Posta in Sondrio become part of the Handwritten Collection brand, from April 2024.
The Grand Hotel della Posta is a historic building located in the centre of Sondrio, between the Alps and Lake Como, in the heart of the Valtellina and perfectly embodies the collector's style of the Handwritten Collection brand. After some work, the hotel will offer its guests 38 rooms, the renowned 1862 Ristorante della Posta, the Felix Café, 7 meeting rooms, Spa and Fitness centre.
"Grand Hotel della Posta is a benchmark for hospitality in Valtellina. We are confident that joining the Handwritten Collection, as part of a customised portfolio of Accor, a world leader in the hospitality sector, will give the hotel and the destination the visibility and enhancement it deserves, attracting Italian and international tourists thanks to its excellent location and unique personality," says Filippo Cavandoli, CEO & founder PPN Hospitality.
"The Accor group's strategy is based on sustainability and the conversion of existing structures: enhancing what you have is not only good for the environment but benefits the whole community in terms of jobs and support for the area. Thanks to the collaboration and mutual trust with our partner PPN Hospitality, we can bring an international hospitality brand to Valtellina and I am sure that the combination of this extraordinary destination with the charm of the Handwritten Collection brand will make the new hotel a place full of history and charm, all year round, for every guest," says Ettore Cavallino, Senior Director Development Italy Greece & Malta.
Set in the heart of the Alps, Sondrio is a little jewel, made of wood, water and stone. The historic city centre leaves its mark on the visitor with its winding alleys and courtyards, the aristocratic palazzos and the country-style houses. Sondrio is the ideal point of departure for trips to places of cultural interest, immersed in the unique atmosphere of the mountains, among vineyards, ancient hamlets and aristocratic residences. Just a few kilometres out of town you can admire fabulous mountain panoramas seated comfortably in the cars of the Bernina Express, or walk 140 meters above ground on Europe's highest Tibetan-style bridge.
