Meliá Hotels International has also completed the opening of the Sol Tropikal Durrës hotel and begins to consolidate its offer in Albania

The Meliá Durrës hotel, located in one of Europe's most promising tourist destinations, has opened its doors to offer the best hospitality on the Albanian coast. The opening of the company's first resort in the country is just one more step in the development of tourism in the nation, and Meliá is committed to getting involved by bringing its extensive experience in the sector.

The hotel hosted its inauguration event on May 27, which was attended by the senior management of Meliá Hotels International and Conconrd Investment, the group that owns the Meliá Dürres. In addition, the official opening ceremony was also attended by the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, who revealed the destination's enthusiasm for being able to rely on a hotel group with Meliá's experience; the Minister of Tourism and the Environment of Albania, Mirela Kumbaro, also participated in the event and wanted to thank Meliá for its commitment to the destination. For his part, Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, Vice President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, thanked them for the confidence they have placed in the hotel company to form part of the country's tourism development and added that "Meliá Hotels International trusts in the area's tourism potential and is fully committed to lead, together with local partners, this development, as it has already done in other pioneering destinations".

The hotel company has also recently opened the Sol Tropikal Durrës hotel, which is already beginning to welcome its first guests and offers a 1,000 m2 private beach, a perfect experience to enjoy with the family. In addition to these two recent openings, the hotel company already has several projects in the country, which will add around 1,600 rooms in the destination in the coming years. A figure it hopes to increase further while supporting Albania's tourism development.

The seafront hotel boasts 471 rooms and suites with a modern style, offering all the features and attributes of the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand. The architectural design has been carried out by the architect Alvaro Sans (ASAH), as well as the interior design project (Room 1804 and ASAH).

The architect Alvaro Sans explains that "the design of this hotel is an evolution of the patio hotels that I started 25 years ago with the Gran Meliá Sancti Petri, where the spaciousness of the common areas and the natural light present in it make the building be like a Mediterranean palace."

Among the brand's signature services that guests can now enjoy at the Meliá Durrës is The Level, a superior experience that includes better rooms and access to exclusive hotel areas: The Level reception, lounge, terrace, breakfast area, relaxation spaces and private pool.

With direct access to the beach right in front of the property, the hotel offers outdoor garden areas with spaces to relax under the sun, along with its swimming pool, which is the heart of the Meliá Dürres. In addition to the various outdoor pools, the hotel also has two indoor pools and two infinity pools located on Rooftop Nine. Perfect for enjoying the spectacular sunsets overlooking the sea, Rooftop Nine opens at Meliá Durrës with two exclusive spaces to relax while savouring the best cocktails and snacks.

The hotel's extensive dining offer, featuring a total of 12 bars and restaurants, includes carefully curated gastronomic concepts such as Merkado, the all-day dining with international proposals; Cape Nao, a pool club with a menu based on fresh produce; or Casa Nostra, which offers the flavours of authentic Italian cuisine with fine ingredients.

The facilities at the Meliá Durrës also include a spa and wellness centre, where you can pamper your body and mind with the best treatments. The spa, designed by the Italian architect Simone Micheli, spreads over two floors devoted to wellness: a unique spot in the destination which includes a 25 metre long indoor swimmingpool. The fully equipped gym and outdoor sports area for practicing various sports, round off the hotel's wellness offer.

In addition to its leisure and wellness facilities for guests, the hotel boasts different spaces that can be adapted to any type of event accommodating up to 400 guests.​
