Mandarin Oriental;

Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, the iconic hotel that first defined luxury in Singapore's Marina Bay in 1987, is temporarily closing its doors to undergo a six-month transformation. Re-opening in September 2023, the hotel will offer a brand-new look and feel.

"This is a new dawn of exceptional luxury," says Philipp Knuepfer, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. "As the sun set on the Marina Bay on 7 March, we said farewell to the 527 rooms, seven food and beverage outlets, full-service luxury spa and many other facilities that have proudly served our guests for 35 years."

"Whilst we are temporarily closed to our guests, we will focus all our efforts on the transformation of what promises to be a spectacular new version of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. Together with our colleagues, we're excited to welcome a new era in which we continue to honour our legacy of outstanding service." Philipp added.

The hotel's multi-million-dollar transformation is set to take place across all fronts, including a complete redesign and refitting of the hotel's interiors, from the grand lobby and the rooms to the award-winning food and beverage venues.

World renowned interior design firm, Design Wilkes, the creative force behind Mandarin Oriental's properties in Dubai, Bangkok and Tokyo, has been commissioned to lead the extensive transformation. The redesign will complement the property's iconic architecture, designed by esteemed architect John C Portman, which left an indelible mark on the Singapore skyline.

During the six-month transformation, Mandarin Oriental, Singapore's social media platforms will be alive with compelling content, honouring the incredible legacy of the hotel, featuring new and long-term employees, regular peeks into the hotel transformation process and the release of early hotel room, dining and spa bookings, all ahead of September 2023.
