Accor last month announced the opening of ibis Styles Copenhagen Ørestad together with partner Borealis Hotel Group on the hotel brand’s debut both in Denmark and in the Nordics.

The 186-room hotel is located in the central Ørestad business district near to Copenhagen city centre.

The building was designed by Holscher Nordberg Architects in Copenhagen, with bespoke interior design by Dutch design house Mulderblauw. They bring their signature refined style to the hotel with contemporary rooms and public areas focusing on the intersection of nature and urban city living, with neon quotes, waterfall lighting and graffitied walls set beside nature scenes, illustrated wallpaper and floral carpeting, culminating in bright public spaces designed to be instagrammed.

Situated within the popular Nest45 project, a DGNB gold multifunctional building, the hotel is nestled within an eye-catching hub of offices and small businesses in Ørestad, a neighbourhood known for its contemporary urban design and easy proximity to the city.

As the first ibis Styles hotel to open in the Nordic region, and its flagship hotel for the region, the 186-room hotel marks an entry point in the market for the design-led price-friendly brand. Well placed for weekenders as well as business travellers and families, it is just a 15-minute metro ride from the city’s central station.

Louise Adolph, part of the Borealis Hotel Group and general manager, ibis Styles Copenhagen Ørestad said: “We are thrilled to be opening ibis Styles Copenhagen in the up-and-coming district of Ørestad and to bring the ibis Styles brand to the Nordics. Couples, families, solo travellers and business guests can expect a stay that brings together nature, culture and the exciting city of Copenhagen at a great price with some delightful details and an easy-going atmosphere. We can’t wait to welcome them.”

Copenhagen is the perfect location for the first ibis Styles hotel in the region. Each ibis Styles hotel has its own unique design, theme and personality, and the city is well known for its design pedigree. Most Copenhageners live within 300m of a green space, and the connection to nature provided the inspiration for the hotel’s creative and colourful design.

Complementing its vibrant public spaces, room designs in rich greens and blues draw from the surrounding countryside and waterways of the area, while views take in award-winning architecture, nature reserves and the shining spires and domes of the city beyond.

The hotel’s restaurant, Sunder, was also designed in keeping with the urban nature concept and plays on the word’s meaning in English (‘to divide’) and the meaning in Danish (‘healthier’) in its healthy theme. Healthy breakfast options include Danish favourites such as homemade granola, plus a mix-your-own toppings station for kids, while lunch and dinner options include an array of salad bowls and healthy meals. The easy-going dining area and bar are created to serve the local community as well as guests, providing a social hub for the area.

The hotel offers a range of extras designed to make travel easier and more enjoyable. Bikes are available to rent for easy transit like the locals around the city into nature and urban spaces alike. For business travellers, Copenhagen’s famed work-life balance comes as standard: every ibis Styles room is designed as a living area where you can rest, recharge your batteries and work. Each floor has an imaginative arrangement with modern connectivity options (flat screen, multimedia connection), and there is a serene working zone and lounge and space to relax and enjoy your stay. Families can enjoy the uniquely family-friendly design, which includes family suites, breakfasts adapted for kids, a kid’s corner, baby equipment and a warm welcome await parents and children alike.

Ørestad is one of Copenhagen’s up and coming areas, a business district just to the south of the city centre. There’s no need to choose between urban life and nature: Ørestad has it all, from international touring artists on its doorstep at the Royal Arena and DR Koncerthuset to the appeal of wild meadows and heathland at one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful green spaces, Amager Fælled, just steps away, with its nature centre and hiking and biking routes.

Be inspired by urban life in this most liveable city, with cutting-edge examples of sustainable living and architectural masterpieces just down the street, along with Field’s, the largest shopping centre in Denmark, nearby. The centre of Copenhagen is reachable in less than 15 minutes, taking guests to the heart of the city’s flourishing food scene, historic Nyhavn Harbour, and the charming central theme park, Tivoli Gardens. Looking to venture further afield? Take the train to Malmö in Sweden in less that 30 minutes and tick a new country off your bucket list. Experience the buzz, find peace and quiet, work and relax. It’s the best of all worlds.

The hotel is next to the Bella Centre Metro stop with Copenhagen Kastrup Airport 19 minutes away.
