Hilton last week announced the appointment of Diarmuid Dwyer to area managing director, overseeing Hilton's managed portfolio in New York City. In his new role, Dwyer oversees the hotels' general managers, area operations and commercial capabilities for New York City Hilton-managed hotels across its full service, lifestyle and luxury brands, including New York Hilton Midtown, Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza, Martinique New York on Broadway, Curio Collection by Hilton, Conrad New York Midtown, and Conrad New York Downtown, as well as upcoming openings, including Hilton Times Square, Tempo by Hilton Times Square and Waldorf Astoria New York.

Previously, Dwyer was the general manager of the iconic 1,878-room New York Hilton Midtown, home to New York City's largest hotel meeting space footprint and ballroom.

"Hilton has had a storied history in this remarkable city and I am looking forward to enhancing our collective presence in the destination and working alongside our general managers and their teams to deliver for our guests, groups and customers."

With nearly 20 years of hospitality experience, Dwyer began his career at the Killarney Park Hotel in his home country of Ireland before starting as assistant general manager at The Brehon Hotel & Angsana Spa.

Following his roles in Ireland, Dwyer moved to the United States where he began a 13-year management tenure with the legendary Waldorf Astoria New York and The Waldorf Towers, the hotel's residential offering. His roles included director of guest services, assistant director of rooms, director of operations, and executive director for The Waldorf Towers. In 2010, he was named hotel manager for the renowned property where he remained for seven years before joining New York Hilton Midtown as general manager in 2017.

Dwyer holds a diploma in International Hotel Management and Business Studies from the Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland. Throughout his career in New York City, he has maintained an active role with the Hotel Association of New York on the Board of Directors and as an Executive Committee Member. He is also a member of NYC & Company's Board of Directors.
